DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN: site won't load

This message appears when your PC can't turn the site's name into an IP address. The site most likely exists; DNS resolution is what fails.

1. Check the address

   A typo in the URL produces exactly this error. Also try the site on your phone over mobile data.

2. Flush the DNS cache

   In Terminal (Admin):

   ipconfig /flushdns
   ipconfig /release
   ipconfig /renew

   cmdCopy

1. Reset the network stack

   Still as admin, then restart the PC:

   netsh winsock reset
   netsh int ip reset

   cmdCopy

2. Use a public DNS

   Settings › Network & internet › Wi‑Fi (or Ethernet) › Properties › DNS server assignment › Edit. Choose Manual, turn on IPv4 and enter 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8.

Good to know : In Chrome you can also clear the browser's DNS cache at chrome://net-internals/#dns.
